IWD at Lido: Eylse Walker

Elyse Walker
Owner and Founder of elysewalker + towne by elysewalker stores

What is your favorite part of your job? I call it “The Build” – sometimes it’s construction or a build out, sometimes it’s building the brand representation in the stores, sometimes it’s building the teams and departments. In all cases, I love the empty canvas and then “the build.”

What is the most challenging part of your job? It’s tough trying to make everyone happy all of the time. I want every person, client, staff member to be happy.

What is the most rewarding part of your job? One of the most rewarding things is waking up in the morning and receiving a text from a client or a photo of themselves wearing their new elysewalker or towne by elysewalker looks.

How important is it for women to lift each other up and what does that mean to you? This is the most important thing in my eyes. Always surround yourself with supportive women who cheer you on and are truly happy when good things happen to you.

Which women are you inspired by in your local community, and globe? I am inspired by a great local member of our community, one of my clients turned dear friend, Lisa Fuerst. She is a class act, incredible businesswoman, mom, wife and friend. She always pays homage to where she came from. I am also inspired by Vanessa Bryant. She has been a great supporter of our stores and is an amazing mom and charitable figure.

On International Women’s Day, what is the most important message you want to send out to young women thinking about their careers? When it comes to building your reputation and future in business, remember to be patient and take your time. These things take time to grow. Don’t expect instant gratification. Don’t be afraid of the long, tedious, 18+ hour workdays, that don’t always reap quick awards. Business and relationships take time and trust. Build your future brick-by-brick with stability just as you would build a house.
